Kantonsspital Baselland, Standort Bruderholz
The Cantonal Hospital Baselland consists of two sites (Liestal and Bruderholz). Both sites offer centralized specialist disciplines. At the Bruderholz site, in addition to acute geriatrics, medicine, a small part of surgery and a rehabilitation, this also includes orthopaedics.
Since the end of 2023, we have been offering a fracture liaison service (FLS) in orthopaedics, which consists of an orthopaedic traumatologist, an internist and a physician associate (PA).
New patients are screened for osteoporosis-suspected fractures by our internist and PA during morning reports. A personal assessment is then carried out with the patients. In addition to the assessment, information about osteoporosis is also provided, as well as information about risks and preventive measures. If the patient agrees, further measures are planned and implemented in consultation with the family doctor. Depending on the patient's situation, it may be possible to carry out a DEXA as an inpatient
Once a week, we offer our outpatients an FLS consultation. This provides the opportunity to ensure further care, such as the start of therapy, following the inpatient stay.
