Whanganui Regional Health Network
Located in the Central North Island of New Zealand, the Whanganui Fracture Liaison Service is a primary care led service within the Whanganui Regional Health Network.
The service is delivered across an urban and rural population of approximately 69,000 and sees around 350 people annually, aged 50 years and older.
Established in 2014 as an integrated service, it provides care through a team consisting of an orthogeriatrician, fracture liaison nurse, and administrator.
The service covers inpatients, urgent care, and general practice. It links with DEXA Scanning, NGO providers in the community, Falls Team, Māori health providers, community strength and balance classes, clinical pharmacist, and a nurse practitioner for older persons.
