FLS Café at the XXII AMMOM Congress in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
The "FLS Café" is a meeting that brings together coordinators and teams of post-fracture care programmes (PFC) such as Fracture Liaison Services (FLS) from the IOF's Capture The Fracture® initiative. On this occasion, the FLS Café Mexico took place in the framework of the XXII Mexican Congress of Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Diseases organised by the Mexican Association of Bone and Mineral Metabolism, A.C. (AMMOM).
It was an opportunity for representatives of local post-fracture care programmes to discuss challenges, opportunities and local experiences for secondary fracture prevention.
The programme included a number of presentations on local success stories by Dr. Lucio Balcázar from FLS Hospital Regional Dr. Manuel Cárdenas de la Vega ISSSTE in Culiacán, Dr. Humberto Medina from GeritrIMSS and Dr. Saúl Tejeda from the Secretariat of Health and Ageing of Jalisco. Also present at this meeting were Dr. Philippe Halbout, CEO of the IOF, who presented the 2022 milestones of the Capture the Fracture® programme; Dr. Patricia Clark, leading Mexican expert in the epidemiological field and member of the IOF Global Board; and Ms. Mónica Caló, regional manager of the IOF LATAM and coordinator of the CTF programme in the region.
