The Interdisciplinary Symposium on Osteoporosis 2024 (ISO2024) is the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation's (BHOF) annual meeting, which took place from June 13-15, 2024 in Washington DC.

This year marked the 40th anniversary of BHOF, and ISO2024 featured comprehensive education on bone health, patient management, and innovative treatments. Lectures included a keynote by Mark Black on resilience, drawing from his experience as a heart and double-lung transplant recipient, a Lawrence G. Raisz Memorial Lecture by Dr. Steven Harris on antiresorptive therapy in osteoporosis and the presentation of the first Robert F. Gagel Community Leadership Award to Rebekah Rotstein for her contributions to osteoporosis care.

Starting in 2014, BHOF has offered the Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) Model of Care Training and Certificate of Completion during ISO. On June 12, 2024, BHOF hosted the Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) Basic and Advanced Workshops as part of the ISO2024 event. These workshops covered the implementation and management of FLS programs, addressing clinical care challenges, healthcare reforms, and patient treatment strategies. Participants also learned strategies for organizing, staffing, and structuring a successful FLS.

This year, the FLS Workshops included a lecture on Capture the Fracture® (CTF). Associate Professor Andrea Singer, MD, FACP, CCD, BHOF's Chief Medical Officer and Vice-Chair of the CTF Governance, presented an overview of the CTF program, including the Best Practice Framework, how to join the CTF Network, and the benefits and resources available for American FLS.

IOF congratulates BHOF on the successful edition of ISO2024 and the 40th anniversary of BHOF.

About Capture The Fracture®

Capture the Fracture® (CTF) is a multi-stakeholder initiative, led by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF), to facilitate the implementation of Post-Fracture Care Coordination Programmes, such as Fracture Coordination Units (FLS), for secondary fracture prevention. The CTF initiative, which celebrated its 10th year in 2022, aims to drive changes at local and regional levels to prioritise secondary fracture prevention. It sets global best practice standards and provides recognition for FLSs through its Best Practice Framework (BPF). The CTF programme also provides an essential mentorship programme, resources and documentation to promote the prioritisation of secondary fracture prevention and drive the implementation and quality improvement of FLSs. Currently, the CTF network includes 933 FLSs in 57 countries worldwide. FLSs are invited to apply for free assessment and recognition through the online Best Practice Framework application platform on the CTF website. https://www.capturethefracture.org #CaptureTheFracture
