Founded in 1955, Yanbian University Hospital’s Orthopedics Department is a national orthopedic residency training base and a clinical key specialty. The department’s center is well-equipped with dual-energy DXA for bone density testing, osteoporosis treatment devices, and gait analyzers, supporting comprehensive osteoporosis care.

In 2024, the department launched an osteoporosis station to improve screening among high-risk groups and advance standardized osteoporosis prevention and treatment. Annually, it conducts at least three community outreach events, offering osteoporosis education, screening, and free clinics. The department screens over 1,000 cases each year, achieving a standardized treatment rate of more than 10% for patients diagnosed with osteoporosis. Additionally, the hospital collaborates on local screening and healthcare projects, creating a green referral pathway for seamless patient care. The dedicated Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) provides structured follow-up and personalized management for osteoporosis patients at high risk of fractures, promoting effective prevention and treatment protocols.
