Kantonsspital St.Gallen
The Kantonsspital St.Gallen is an Academic Teaching tertiary refererral center in Switzerland for the entire spectrum of bone and endocrine diseases. The fracture liaison service (FLS) of the Kantonsspital St.Gallen has started in 2023 and serves around 200 hip fracture patients > 50 years a year, and the inclusion of other fragility fractures are planned in the near future.
All patients are identified and contacted by our FLS manager. They receive a consultation with fracture risk assessment including DXA and laboratory work up for secondary osteoporosis according to pre-specified screening protocols. Treatment is initiated in all patients with hip fragility fractured immediately after consultation. If necessary the service consults with general practitioners or other local hospitals to arrange screening and/or treatment elsewhere.
After initiation of therapy all patients are checked for compliance and patient satisfaction after 3 months and 12 months.
