It’s a small Hospital from the Public Health System and serves a population of around 55000 people. The Fracture liaison service handles all fragility fractures and serves about 700 new patients per year. Our FLS emerged from the close cooperation between the Rehabilitation and Traumatology services.

Directed by lead clinician Dr. Alejandra Cirera Tortosa, our Fracture liaison service started working in 2016. Every patient who has suffered a fracture is referred to the Rehabilitation service where is studied and where medical treatment and therapeutic exercise program is prescribed in order to prevent further falls.

Our main goal is not only to treatment of patients who already have a fragility fracture, but to perform an early diagnosis and to detect those patients at high risk of falls. Given our short experience, we don’t have yet enough data to publish.
