Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz

Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz(HCTM) is the teaching hospital for Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia(The National University of Malaysia). It is a tertiary university hospital situated in Bandar Tun Razak which have been established for the past 25 years. This is a 1084 bedded hospital, which gives outpatient services to over 800,000 patients annually and is the teaching hospital for both the undergraduate and post graduate programmes. It is public hospital fully funded by the government.

Our Fracture Liaison Service(FLS) was established in 2018, involving a multi-disciplinary team, consisting of sub-specialities from Orthopaedic, Geriatrician, Endocrinologist, Gynaecologist, Family Medicine, Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy, Pharmacist and Dietician. This team educates, and provides the latest evidence-based-medicine to our patients ensuring they receive comprehensive care and treatment involving osteoporosis. We facilitate investigations to detect, diagnose and fully work out for osteoporosis. We also provide fall prevention programmes to our patients at high risk of falling. The FLS have a registry of fragility fractures which include major fractures (hip, vertebrae, humerus and wrist) and other minor fractures.

Our FLS journey was recognised by the IOF and awarded the silver star on the ‘Capture the Fracture’ world map in 2019, just one year after our FLS commenced.
