Peking University First Hospital

The Department of Orthopedics at Peking University First Hospital was established in 1947, making it one of the earliest orthopedic specialties in China. In the 1960s and 1970s, the department gained national recognition for its expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of lumbar disc herniation and knee meniscus injuries. In 1993, the department was further subdivided into three specialized divisions: Spine Surgery, Joint Surgery, and Bone Tumor Surgery. After decades of dedicated efforts by several generations, it has evolved into a renowned key discipline both nationally and internationally. At Peking University First Hospital, our Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) operates through a multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach, involving collaboration between endocrinology, orthopedics, and osteoporosis specialists. We focus on screening patients for osteoporosis, ensuring timely medication initiation, and developing long-term treatment and follow-up plans. This integrated approach helps us provide comprehensive care to reduce fracture risks and improve patient outcomes.
