THE SECOND AFFILIATED HOSPITAL OF INNER MONGOLIA MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

Since its establishment in 2014, the Osteoporosis Department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University has always been at the forefront of osteoporosis and bone mineral salt disease diagnosis and treatment in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, being the first specialized medical unit in the region and one of the earlier osteoporosis specialties established in China. The department focuses on standardized diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis and related bone mineral salts diseases, and is committed to improving patients' quality of life, becoming a highly recognized professional team. Specialized Features and Achievements
The Department of Osteoporosis has a wide range of treatments covering primary osteoporosis (including postmenopausal osteoporosis, senile osteoporosis, pregnancy and lactation related osteoporosis, and juvenile osteoporosis) and secondary osteoporosis (e.g., hormone related, tumor related, etc.). By combining lifestyle guidance, medication, exercise therapy and effective prevention, we not only relieve patients' pain, but also improve their quality of life.
With an annual outpatient volume of 5,000, nearly 1,000 hospitalizations, and nearly 10,000 bone density tests per year, the department has accumulated a wealth of clinical experience and ensured that the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis and bone mineral salts diseases have reached the international advanced level.In 2017, we were awarded the Western and Grassroots Award of the Osteoporosis and Bone Mineral Salts Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, and we have presented our results at the European and North American international conferences several times between 2014 and 2024. Research and Education
In terms of scientific research, the Department of Osteoporosis actively participates in and presides over autonomous regions and provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects, and regularly carries out training on new technologies and practices. We focus on the promotion of technology to primary healthcare units and promote standardized diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region through annual training courses on osteoporosis diagnosis and bone densitometry. Dr. Dongmei, the director of the department, holds important positions in professional academic societies across the country and in the autonomous region, and leads the team to continuously explore the frontiers of osteoporosis research.
Social Responsibility and Future Prospects
We understand the importance of early detection and intervention of osteoporosis for patients. The department has set up a standardized diagnosis and treatment process to provide perioperative or fracture risk assessment, diagnosis and anti-osteoporosis treatment for orthopedic surgery patients with severe osteoporosis and fracture patients treated conservatively. At the same time, we also actively carry out various public welfare activities to provide health education and knowledge popularization for patients, and are committed to raising public awareness of osteoporosis.
As the main committee unit of the Osteoporosis and Bone Mineral Salt Diseases Branch of the Inner Mongolia Medical Association, the Department of Osteoporosis of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University will continue to improve its own level of business, climb new heights of technology, and escort the health of the people in the autonomous region. Our goal is to minimize the incidence of osteoporosis by early diagnosis, early treatment and early prevention, so that every patient can enjoy a healthy life.
