FLS is built up at Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department of Ege University. We are working in collaboration with the Orthopedic Surgery and Neurosurgery Department, the departments responsible for the operations of hip , vertebral and other osteoporotic fractures for the last two years. All of the osteoporotic fractures are being followed regularly according to FLS procedures and treatment of the patients is organized. We have a medical biologist working full time as a coordinator for FLS in a room dedicated to FLS fully equipped. A retrospective study was performed to include hip fracture patients admitted to Ege University (206 patients a year) to assess their condition after hip fracture. Another prospective study was performed to include 105 hip fracture patients and these patients were followed for a year and their medical and non-pharmacological treatment were organized. An epidemiological study screening 1300 people living nearby Ege University to define osteoporotic fracture patients was completed and fracture rate was obtained as 10.2%. All of these important studies were presented at WCO 2019, 2020 and 2021. These studies were performed to serve as a preparation platform for FLS.
